Peter and I just recently chatted about the real estate market, the Jingletown neighborhood of Oakland, this property, what makes for a trusted real estate professional, and what this home has to offer.

What’s the state of the real estate market and where it’s headed in Alameda & surrounding neighborhoods?

Peter noted, “It’s certainly had an adjustment - that’s for sure. Interest rates have gone up and are continuing to do so. The economy is a bit uncertain right now, however, I don’t think this will last. I think we’ll see an improvement next year or soon thereafter that will be significant. All along the way, I believe there will be many loan types that fit the specific needs of various neighborhoods, properties, and buyers. Even now, some properties are selling with multiple offers - while others need a little assistance.”

What do you think is the most appealing aspect of living in Jingletown (just across the Park Street Bridge from Alameda)?

Peter remarked, “It’s certainly urban living at its best, in my opinion. As a great mixed-use neighborhood, most of the former factories and industrial warehouses have either converted to another use or have a much lower volume of business. It’s also got some quirky aspects, but you can visit artisan spaces, walk over the Park St Bridge and visit any number of restaurants and boutiques, or anywhere else in Alameda. You’ve got many transportation options – buses to Alameda, Oakland & San Francisco, or take a bus to the ferry for a great commute to the city.”

What’s unique about this townhome-style condo and how is this an opportunity for a first-time buyer?

Peter said, “Being anywhere near San Francisco Bay is a really good investment. If you were looking in Alameda at a similarly-sized townhome like this one, you would be expected to pay over $1 million for that property. I think you’re saving yourself a couple hundred thousand dollars and you get a more current townhome than you’d find in Alameda. Most Alameda townhomes are in subdivisions geared towards raising children, whereas this is more of a grown-up neighborhood - it feels like the city. Once you walk out your door, you’re greeted by both residences and other interesting spaces to explore. Alameda becomes an amenity that you can enjoy when you want. You can certainly raise kids here, as there is plenty of space, but this is a perfect place for someone who travels, is busy, and isn’t looking for a lot of maintenance. It’s also move-in ready with a secured parking space that has an EV electric plug-in charger. Plus the unit is also wired for your high-tech needs.”
